Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is a key factor in the formation of diabetic retinopathy (DR), and patients with DR have elevated expression of VEGF and receptors, and IVT injection of VEGFi drugs can promote regression of neovascularization, attenuate leakage, reduce neovascularization, and effectively treat retinopathy (Wells et al., 2015). The gene discussed is VEGFA; the disease is retinal disorder.
