IL6 and dental caries: Figure 6 illustrates the major findings of this study: a wild ex-vivo model of dental caries showed that during the natural course of this disease, dental pulp tissue exposed to oral microbiota associated with a moderate stage of dentin caries, overexpressed innate immune proinflammatory cytokines IL1β, IL6 and chemokine CXCL8, thus, contributing to a stage of inflammation driven by the expression of TLRs triggered by different MAMP ́s from gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria associated with moderate caries.
