In 2017, US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the use of CD19- targeted CAR-T (Tisagenlecleucel, tisa-cel) for the treatment of young adults with refractory or relapsed (r/r) B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) and of adults with r/r diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) (Brentjens et al. 2013; Davila et al. 2014; Grupp et al. 2013). The gene discussed is CD19; the disease is acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
