TNFRSF17 and cancer: Most of the (CAR)-T therapies currently on the market or under development involve isolating T cells from patients; the T cells are then modified in vitro to express (CAR)-T cells that recognize cancer cell surface antigens such as CD19 and BCMA followed by amplifying the (CAR)-T cells and finally infusing them back into the patient to play a role in destroying the cancer cells.
