AKT1 and kidney injury: Many studies have shown that a number of signal transduction pathways are involved in the regulation of autophagy, i.e., PI3K/AKT, and the signaling crosstalk between PI3K/AKT and the NOD-like receptor pyrin domain-containing protein 3 (NLRP3) that controls mTOR activity, an important member of the NOD-like receptor (NLR) family, in the cytosol and activates sterile inflammation that was shown to be up-regulated in diabetic patients with kidney injury [18,19,20].
