As shown in Figure 6A,C, p38 MAPK phosphorylation was inhibited in J774A.1 macrophages after 4 h of Ms_PE_PGRS19 infection compared with Ms_Vec, whereas JNK and ERK phosphorylation had no significant and constant change indicating that PE_PGRS19 did not trigger the pro-inflammatory response in macrophages via the MAPK pathway but rather inhibited the activation of this pathway, which might have a tight relationship with the inhibition of cell apoptosis. This evidence concerns the gene MAPK8 and infection.
