α-glucosidase inhibitors retard the action of α-glucosidase on the hydrolysis of carbohydrates, thereby delaying the carbohydrate digestion from the small intestine at postprandial conditions as a result decrease the glucose level in type-2 diabetes patients which occurs due to the impairment of insulin sensitivity and pancreatic β-cell.
