ALB and Cirrhosis: In healthy adults, about 70–80% of circulating albumin have the Cys34 residue with free sulfhydryl group, whereas about 25–30% have Cys34 forming a mixed disulfide with either cysteine or homocysteine or glutathione (human nonmercaptalbumin, HNA) [15], whereas the ratio of HNA is around 40% in patients with cirrhosis [16].
