Stargardt disease (STGD1), also known as fundus flavimaculatus or ABCA4 retinopathy, is a progressive disorder of the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) and photoreceptors caused by bi-allelic variants of the ABCA4 gene [1,2,3,4,5,6]. This evidence concerns the gene ABCA4 and Stargardt disease.
