Commonly mutated genetic loci in MDS which are implicated in epigenetics include DNA methyltransferases DNMT1 and mainly DNMT3A, the family of methyl-cytosine dioxygenases TET1-3 and the isocitrate dehydrogenases IDH1-2, contributing to the generation of aberrant methylation/demethylation genomic imprints [8,9,10]. The gene discussed is DNMT3A; the disease is myelodysplastic syndrome.
