Immunecomplexes (ICs) found in SLE patient’s sera are endocytosed after binding to the low-affinity immunoglobulin gamma Fc receptor IIa (Fc gamma RIIa) on the surface of pDCs and transported into the endosomes where the nucleic acids content interacts with TLRs inducing INFα production by two different pathways: the MyD88 one and the TRIF one. This evidence concerns the gene IFNA17 and systemic lupus erythematosus.
