TNF and systemic lupus erythematosus: The stimulatory effect of the NK-cells on the production of INFα by pDCs induced by RNA-containing ICs are strongly inhibited by monocytes through the secretion of mediators such as prostanoids, ROS (ROS) and TNF-alpha which could suppress INFα production by direct inhibitory effects on stimulatory NK cells, but SLE patients’ monocytes have a less efficient negative regulation on INFα production.
