FAPα silencing has been shown to inhibit stromagenesis, tumour growth, and angiogenesis in murine models of pancreatic cancer [201] and to suppress cell proliferation, migration, and invasion of ovarian squamous cell carcinoma cells in vitro and in vivo after inactivation of phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN), phosphoinositide-3-kinase (PI3K), and serinethreonine kinase. The gene discussed is FAP; the disease is familial pancreatic carcinoma.
