In contrast, in mixed-sex premedicated patients, a negative correlation was observed between baseline MIF protein values and absolute changes of HAM-D (rho = −0.345, p = 0.007) and MADRS (rho = −0.347, p = 0.007) scores, i.e., high MIF serum levels at inclusion predicted a better MDD course. This evidence concerns the gene MIF and major depressive disorder.
