As endometriosis is an estrogen-dependent systemic disease [1,2,3], we recommend that women with symptoms presumed to be due to endometriosis receive medical therapy, which includes hormonal (e.g., combined oral contraceptives [COCs], gonadotropin-releasing hormone [GnRH] agonists/antagonists, and progestins or anti-progestins) medications. This evidence concerns the gene GNRH1 and endometriosis.
