CYBA and diabetic kidney disease: We have previously reported associations between prevalent and incident diabetic nephropathy and allelic variations in genes associated with redox status biology, encoding for catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidases (GPX1 and GPX4), cytosolic (SOD1), mitochondrial (SOD2) and extracellular superoxide dismutase (SOD3, unpublished data), and the regulatory subunit p22phox of NADPH oxidase (CYBA) [17,18,19,20,21,22].
