IL1β, which down-regulates CYP7A1 and ACOX2, but not BAAT, has been reported to inhibit the expression and activity of transporters involved in BA enterohepatic circulation such as NTCP, OATP1B1, OATP1B3, MRP2, BCRP and BSEP, which may participate in reducing bile flow and contribute to the development of cholestasis during inflammation [19]. This evidence concerns the gene IL1B and cholestasis.
