Furthermore, Pierdomenico et al. reported dramatically increased RIPK3 and MLKL expression and significantly decreased caspase-8 expression in the inflammatory tissues of 30 children with ulcerative colitis and 33 with Crohn’s disease [37]; this is consistent with the fact that necroptosis is independent of caspase-8 signaling and dependent on RIPK3 and MLKL.
