The study from the “Amyloid Registry Kiel” showed that different types of amyloids could have distinctive deposition patterns; biopsies of the upper gastrointestinal tract were more often positive in AL κ+ forms and in AA amyloidosis, whereas biopsies from the large intestine and rectum (enclosing the submucosal layers) were more frequently positive in AL λ+ forms and in ATTR [42].
