LBP and multiple sclerosis: Furthermore, oral administration of extra virgin olive oil or hydroxytyrol has been shown to reduce the degree of lipid and protein oxidation, increase glutathione peroxidase and reduce both bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and LPS-binding protein (LBP) products of the microbiota in the brain, spinal cord and blood in an induced rat model of multiple sclerosis [75].
