In all cancers, as well as in CRC, the EMT process involves changes in both molecular and morphological characteristics and is associated with cell proliferation and drug resistance: epithelial cells dissociate by decreasing their epithelial adhesion molecules such as E-cadherin and increasing the mesenchymal markers such as vimentin [20,21,22,23]. The gene discussed is VIM; the disease is colorectal carcinoma.
