Several studies have identified certain factors indicative of disease severity and mortality risk, such as advanced age, underlying comorbidities such as heart disease and oncological diseases, laboratory parameters such as lymphopenia, high levels of lactate dehydrogenase, procalcitonin, C-reactive protein (CRP) and several inflammatory cytokines such as Interleukin-6 (IL-6) [1, 2]. Here, CRP is linked to lymphopenia.
