Compared to the diagnosis GIP, the patients with stage II, stage III, or stage IV periodontitis had an independent odds ratio (OR) of 1.92 (95% confidence interval [CI] 1.13–3.29; p = 0.017), 1.78 (95% CI 1.03–3.09; p = 0.039) and 2.63 (95% CI 1.48–4.68; < 0.001) for hypertension, respectively. Here, GIP is linked to periodontitis.
