Notably, we shed light on the critical role of CD63 in the Von Hippel–Lindau tumor suppressor (VHL)–hypoxia-inducible factor 1 subunit α (HIF1A)/hypoxia-inducible factor 2α (HIF2A)–vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGFA) protein (VHL-HIF-VEGF/VEGFR) axis (21), a putative key driver that governs tumorigenesis in kidney cancer. This evidence concerns the gene KDR and kidney cancer.
