Furthermore, in a recent analysis [14] of a large data set of pregnancies exposed to metformin, it was observed that except for an increased risk for small-for-gestational-age infants, maternal exposure to metformin during pregnancy was not found to be associated with any long-term increased risk of hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia, obesity, diabetes, or problems in motor-social development, when compared with insulin.
