In the present study, intestinal villus width, goblet cell number and Muc2 expression level of the mice immunized with NC8-Tsgal or NC8-Tsgal + lactose were significantly lower than that in the only empty NC8-Tsgal and lactose-only groups, demonstrating that vaccination of mice with NC8-Tsgal or NC8-Tsgal + lactose significantly hindered larval invasion of the gut mucosa, ameliorated intestinal inflammation and relieved the infection. Here, MUC2 is linked to infection.
