Obese, compared to normal weight patients, were significantly younger (p < 0.05), and, they more frequently had a myocardial infarction (p < 0.05), aortocoronary bypass (p ≤ 0.10), and both insulin-dependent and non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (p ≤ 0.10 and p < 0.001 respectively) in their personal history. This evidence concerns the gene INS and diabetes mellitus.
