Huang et al. (2021) reported 100 body size-associated genes in carnivores related to cancer control, including tumor suppressors, DNA repair, and immunity. From these genes, 15 cancer-related genes were identified as rapidly evolving in the extremely large lineages, which might protect the animal from cancer invasion: ADGRF2, CABCOCO1, CATSPERG, CCDC146, CPLX4, CTLA4, MAS1, PACSIN1, PHF13, SDR39U1, SLC25A28, TCTE1, TERB1, YTHDC2 and ZBED1 (Huang et al., 2021). The gene discussed is TERB1; the disease is cancer.
