Several studies have reported that MM patients treated with thalidomide experienced arrhythmias or congenital septal defects (following its administration to pregnant women), which may be related to the interaction of the cardioprotective-related TBX5 transcriptional activator (Basson et al., 1997; Rokicka and Rokicki, 1999; Kropff et al., 2012; Khalil et al., 2017). The gene discussed is TBX5; the disease is Miyoshi myopathy.
