CASP8 and Yersinia infectious disease: Interestingly, upon TLR or death receptor activation, active caspase-8 can cleave the IL-1β precursor into its bioactive fragment at the same site as caspase-1 (Shenderov et al., 2014), and can directly cleave GSDMD into its N-terminal fragment, triggering pyroptosis during Yersinia infection (Sarhan et al., 2018).
