It was found that loading the macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) into human umbilical cord blood MSC-derived Exos, known as MIF-Exo, increased proliferation and angiogenesis in the human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) and inhibited apoptosis, showing good cardioprotective effects in an acute myocardial infarction rat model (Zhu et al., 2021). This evidence concerns the gene MIF and acute myocardial infarction.
