PDLIM2 and neoplasm: Although this study was focused on alveolar macrophages/myeloid cells and did not address activation of M1 or M2 populations specifically, it demonstrates that PDLIM2 is critical for macrophage function and differentiation in response to a carcinogenic stimulus, and that the presence of PDLIM2 alters the profile of macrophages in the tumour microenvironment.
