In leukemia CNS metastasis, cancerous cells migrate through the vasculature, from the bone marrow to the vertebrae and brain, by crossing the blood-brain-barrier(BBB)via endothelial disruption or trans-endothelial migration, multistep processes (37–41), in which cytokines (such as TNF, IL-1β, or IL-15) and chemokines play critical roles. The gene discussed is TNF; the disease is leukemia.
