The Tn-structure may further serve as an acceptor for the sialyltransferase ST6GalNAc-I, resulting in sialyl-Tn (STn).The Tn and/or STn structures are found to be overexpressed on glycoproteins and mucins on the surface of a variety of solid tumors e.g. prostate cancer, ovarian carcinoma, endometrial cancer, colorectal cancer or breast cancer [5]. The gene discussed is EEF1A2; the disease is prostate cancer.
