Participants using lipid-lowering medication also exhibited a worse lipidemic profile [higher TC, LDL-C, TG and Lp(a) and lower HDL-C] than those not on medication, while subjects with hypercholesterolemia (TC ≥200 mg/dL) had higher levels of TC, LDL-C, TG and Lp(a) (all P < 0.001) but similar levels of HDL-C compared to normocholesterolemic subjects. This evidence concerns the gene LPA and Hypercholesterolemia.
