Given the poor rates of second remission after standard salvage chemotherapy (SC) in relapsed or refractory (R/R) FLT3-mutated (FLT3mut+) AML, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) in first remission is generally recommended for eligible newly diagnosed patients harboring FLT3-YYD mutations [4], as well as patients with FLT3 tyrosine kinase domain (FLF3-TKD) point mutations in the absence of NPM1 co-mutations [5]. The gene discussed is FLT3; the disease is acute myeloid leukemia.
