Interestingly, Kim et al. (19) reported about a decade ago that Parkin, a ubiquitin ligase whose mutations cause recessive early-onset Parkinsonism, regulates lipid uptake in non-neuronal cells by stabilizing cluster of differentiation 36 (CD36), which is involved in transporting fatty acid (FA), via mono-ubiquitination. Here, CD36 is linked to Parkinson disease.
