The following variables were considered in the current study: age, sex, education, marital status, fasting blood glucose, creatinine, uric acid, total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), HDL-C, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), SBP, DBP, body mass index (BMI), WC, waist–hip ratio (WHR), body fat percentage, lifestyle factors (physical activity, cigarette smoking, alcohol consumption, and betel nut chewing), and relevant disease history (diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and stroke). This evidence concerns the gene GPT and diabetes mellitus.
