In cases of a high pERK H‐score (n = 67) or VEGF H‐score (n = 75) in the tumor tissue at baseline, patients treated with S + XP had a significantly longer PFS than those with XP alone (for high pERK, 6.2 months vs. 4.5 months, HR = 0.53, 95% CI 0.31–0.91, p = 0.022; for high VEGF, 6.8 months vs. 5.3 months, HR = 0.56, 95% CI 0.33–0.93, p = 0.026) (Figure S4).
