MAPT and infection: Although this condition is not known to cause an increase in the amount of phosphorylation of tau (Thr231), some effect of the infection cannot be excluded so examination of multiple bottlenose dolphins and other odontocete calves might reveal whether these results where unique to this animal, due to the Y. pseudotuberculosis infection, or a constitutive occurrence of high levels of pTau in very young animals of this and other odontocete species.
