To assess the CAM state, we measured Clec7a/Dectin1 levels in cultured microglia because Clec7a defines the CAM state (Fig. 2) but is also increased in response to diverse disease states, including animal models of Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and aging [66]. Here, CLEC7A is linked to Alzheimer disease.
