AKT1 and cancer: It was a novel class of anti-cancer agents and is being tested in phase II clinical trials at the present time.6 Other studies report that ONC201 induces tumor cell death through TRAIL-dependent mechanisms.7,26 ONC201 has anti-tumorigenic and anti-metastatic activities in uterine serous carcinomas through the TRAIL-mediated apoptotic pathway and the inactivation of the AKT/MAPK signaling pathways.18 Prabhu et al7 also reported that ONC201/TIC10 is an effective combination for CRC treatment.
