We also found four genes in Europeans that had a significant difference, after p-value adjustment, in the proportion of reads supporting the Neanderthal allele between tumors from liver cancer patients and liver from unaffected individuals—OAS1, AKR1C4, PXMP2, and HAL. They also had a higher proportion of somatic mutations on Neanderthal haplotypes but did not reach significance. This evidence concerns the gene PXMP2 and liver cancer.
