Similar fusions leading to constitutive activation of both BRAF and RAF1 (a serine/threonine-specific protein kinase, also part of the RAF family) with a variety of 5′ partners have been identified over the last few years, steadily increasing the RAF fusion partner spectrum in JPAs as well as in melanomas and solid tumors [2, 3, 5–8]. This evidence concerns the gene BRAF and melanoma.
