Pathologically, PD is characterized by two major processes; premature loss of dopamine-producing neurons in the substantia nigra pars compacta (SNpc), and abnormal deposition of Alpha-Synuclein protein in the brain and spinal cord in the form of Lewy bodies (LBs) and Lewy neurites (LNs) [9,10]. This evidence concerns the gene SNCA and Parkinson disease.
