In a 2001 study by Risch et al. [38] involving 649 patients in Canada with ovarian cancer, including 39 BRCA1 PV carriers, risk of GC was increased 6-fold in first-degree relatives of BRCA1 PV carriers compared to relatives of non-carriers (incidence 4.9% vs. 0.8%; RR 6.2, 95% CI 2.0–19). This evidence concerns the gene BRCA1 and ovarian carcinoma.
