In colon cancer cell lines, silencing of stanniocalcin 1 (STC1) reverses the tumor-promoting effects of miR-101 down-regulation [36], and overexpression of miR-101 generates anti-tumor effects by targeting the cAMP-responsive element binding protein 1 (CREB1) and Notch signaling pathway [37,38]. This evidence concerns the gene STC1 and malignant colon neoplasm.
