Though the study was focused on human Myc-UBA52 transfected neurons and rat models of PD and the SNCA transgenic mice, the limitation of the current study is the non-availability of a UBA52-specific transgenic animal model to assess its effect on PD pathology, especially the intracellular signaling pathways and mitophagy/autophagy, which are very challenging and subject to future investigation. The gene discussed is UBA52; the disease is Parkinson disease.
