By inhibiting the expression and activity of YY1, anisomycin cannot initiate the transcriptional activity of the core genes in the lipoic acid pathway (i.e., FDX1, DLD, DLAT, and PDHB), and this induces the accumulation of cytotoxic molecules that eventually leads to potential cuproptosis in ovarian cancer stem cells. The gene discussed is FDX1; the disease is ovarian cancer.
