A similar observation was noted for both ADA and IL-6 mRNA except an increase in expression between the second and third nasopharyngeal specimens in severe COVID-19 patients for ADA (IQR) (second specimen: 3817.5 × 10−6 (1846.0–10,472.4) vs third specimen: 6013.0 × 10−6 (2748.4–13,545.8), p = 0.049), and a decrease in expression between the first and third nasopharyngeal specimens in severe COVID-19 patients for IL-6 (IQR) (first specimen: 6612.9 × 10−6 (2491.1–19,090.0) vs third specimen: 2649.5 × 10−6 (1181.8–9838.7), p < 0.001). Here, IL6 is linked to COVID-19.
