We chose the basolateral amygdala (BLA) as the central location for these studies because it receives dense cholinergic innervation from the basal forebrain (Unal et al., 2015), is rich in expression of AChE (Woolf and Butcher, 1982; Kellis et al., 2020), and is often a focal point for seizures in patients with temporal lobe epilepsy (Aroniadou-Anderjaska et al., 2008). Here, ACHE is linked to temporal lobe epilepsy.
