It is worth highlighting that a significant subset of the work noted above has compared results observed in BLA to those in hippocampus, and broadly concluded that although the hippocampus is also highly susceptible to OP-poisoning, OPs produce significantly more neuronal damage in BLA, and development of status epilepticus in vivo requires significant reduction of AChE activity in the BLA (e.g., see Aroniadou-Anderjaska et al., 2009; Prager et al., 2013). The gene discussed is ACHE; the disease is status epilepticus.
